My Services

Services are bespoke and blended to create a tailor-made healing treatment for each individual. Treatments are determined by addressing symptoms, looking at the tongue and reading the pulse. These assessments help determine the modality best suited for you. In some cases, modalities are contraindicated and not always suitable to your needs. All concerns will be discussed with me, your practitioner. Always consult with a licensed acupuncturist and never self-diagnose to prevent harm.

ACUPUNCTURE My style of acupuncture blends using Traditional Chinese Medicine, trigger point and channel theory methods. Depending on the presentation of symptoms, I may choose to needle locally, distally, use auricular (ear acupuncture – a microcosm of the body) concurrent with treatment or as the sole treatment and scalp acupuncture. Modalities are chosen based on the intake (taking tongue and pulse) and are uniquely customized to that date and time of a person’s presentation. I typically needle gently and work in collaboration with you and your body. One of my mentors reminds me that we are not puncturing into the body but tapping into your spirit. I see this medicine as largely an energetic medicine; the needles are just props.

CUPPING I utilize cupping to create a myofacial release (breaking up stubborn muscle tissue), decrease pain, increase range of motion to joints and promote relaxation. Other positive effects of cupping include reducing inflammation, increasing blood flow and circulation, promoting healing and calming the spirit. Cupping can also be used to improving breathing in diseases of the lungs, such as asthma, wheezing and cough.

ELECTRO-STIMULATION Electro-stimulation, or e-stim for short, may be used congruently with acupuncture, to help with very chronic, deficient and stubborn cases, to help reduce pain, for muscle paralysis, trauma and neurological issues, such as sciatica.

BODYWORK/GUA SHA/TUINA MASSAGE Hands-on bodywork may be used to further promote and enhance the treatment. Gua sha (scraping), tuina massage (Asian massage focusing on acupuncture channels) and acupressure may be used to further break up fascia tissue, decrease pain, clear the channels, promote relaxation, help the body undo bad posture habits, and enhance range of motion.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE HERBS & FORMULAS To promote faster healing from the inside out, if applicable, I suggest the use of formulas and tea pills (a convenient way to take herbal medicine minus the cooking). Many of my patients travel a lot and therefore tea pills work phenomenally if cooking is not an option. Of course, I prefer using raw herbs, and nothing beats using the natural herbs healing effects. I focus on using traditional formulas, those used for over 4,000 years ago, which have been tried and tested long before the scientific method, that shows efficacy in addressing symptoms. Practitioners are of course working on building up this evidence-based research now, and many formulas already have significant efficacy in the literature. These formulas are based on one, two, or sixteen or more combined herbs to help with a plethora of symptoms including but not limited to pain relief, digestive disorders, allergies, colds and flus, cough, hypertension, diabetes, weight loss, insomnia, night sweats, stroke prevention, and menstrual pain.

HEAT Heating elements such as infrared lamps and moxibustion may be used to reduce pain, promote blood flow, reduce muscular and joint pain, may prevent illness, reduce cold and dampness (common TCM “evils” that invade the body) and expedite the body’s healing.

BODY MOVEMENT I am a huge proponent of combining acupuncture with lifestyle changes, namely movement! Moving our bodies, muscles and joints regularly, and concurrently with acupuncture, promotes healing and wellbeing, reduces pain, increases range of motion, improves quality of life, helps with stress management, and overall allows us to show up fully in our lives. I use my background in yoga to help promote healing in between acupuncture treatments. If you have other modalities such as regular exercise routines, physical therapy, massage, chiropractic, TENS units, Theragun, foam rolling, etc., I am in full support of incorporating these modalities concurrently with acupuncture for better overall results.
